Understanding Google Adsense Terms: Clickthrough rate (CTR)?

What is Clickthrough rate (CTR)?

A proportion noting how frequently users who get to see your ad end up clicking it.

Clickthrough rate (CTR) can be used to measure how competitive your keywords and ads are.

So basically, CTR is the number of clicks an ad unit receives divided by the number of times it is shown, shown as a percentage.

Is Google Adsense CTR important?

Yes!, CTR is important as it determines how the ads placed on your website are performing.

Consider that a direct “weight loss” campaign is considered a huge achievement with a response rate of 0.01 percent or 0.02 percent. The CTR for well-placed CPC ads should generally be higher. If your CTR is less than 0.25 percent, you should be able to troubleshoot the problem, which usually signifies that there is something wrong with ad placement on your website pages, layout of the ads and of your pages, your traffic source, target keywords on your website, and the content of the ads themselves.

What is Page CTR?

It is clickthrough rate (CTR) which has been averaged for all the ads served on an individual web page.
